The seeming enmity between Shatta Wale and Samini is something that a lot of people are speaking against. Even though it’s helped the Dancehall genre to flourish and gain some shine in Ghana, the bad blood is also denying the genre of some good collaboration between the two.
Recently, there was news that finally the two artistes will collaborate on a song, but it turned out the song is actually an awareness song featuring many artistes.
The management of High Grade Family, Samini’s label, even released a statement to clarify the falsehood by stating that Samini doesn’t have an individual song with Shatta Wale.
It seems the President of the nation, John Dramani Mahama isn’t also enthused about the beef between the dancehall giants. The President who is in Kenya whiles speaking to the Ghanaian community, stated among other things that he’ll really be glad if the two came together since he really likes them as artistes.
He stated that Shatta and Samini are very talented and therefore a collaboration between the two will do the music industry a lot of good. He further stated that he’s expecting Christmas song from the two.
“I’m a Samini fan but my wife will tell you that I also enjoy Shatta Wale’s songs, especially “Enter the Net”. I want to urge the two to forget about anything that happened in the past and bury their differences.
They are very talented and must not let their differences deny Ghanaians of their creativity on a joint tune. I’m asking my brothers to give me a Christmas present by going into the studio to record a song together for this Christmas.
If you want to make your president happy, do this for me.”
Shatta Wale has on many occasions stated that he wants Samini on a song. He even proposed to pay Samini GHc 80,000 for him to stage a concert with him (Shatta).
It’s still unclear if the two will heed to the Presidents call.
