Ghana is currently investigating a suspected case of Ebola in the country.
This was confirmed by the Head of Disease Surveillance at the Ghana Health Service, Dr Badu Sakordie.
The suspected Ebola patient, who is a Nigerian, sought medical attention at the Achimota hospital  in Accra on Sunday, after battling fever for a while.

Ghana has, so far, assessed and evaluated 37 suspected Ebola cases which have all tested negative.Dr. Badu Sakordie said they are closely monitoring the situation.

“We are just getting it like you are doing so we are yet to follow up so I don’t have too many details to come out. Let’s investigate”, he added.
Responding to a question as to whether blood samples of the patient had been sent to the Noguchi Memorial institute for further tests , he said:”they take a sample but then this one we had the information,… they haven’t given us a report , these things we can’t preempt , lets do the proper investigation and come out”.

Meanwhile Citi News has gathered that doctors and nurses at the Achimota hospital in Accra have abandoned the facility following the suspected Ebola case.

The hospital has currently isolated the patient because he is showing initial symptoms of the deadly Ebola virus. The development has increased fears of a possible spread in the hospital and a number of other patients who have visited the facility have now been left to their fate.
