The Noguchi Memorial Institute is expected to release results of Ghana’s 38th suspected Ebola case on Wednesday.

This follows the submission of blood samples of a Nigerian who reported to the Achimota hospital on Sunday with severe hemorrhagic fever.

Citi News has gathered that the said patient has in the past 10 days been to Nigeria, one of the countries hit by the disease in West Africa.

Ghana has investigated 37 suspected Ebola cases so far, but all turned out negative.The Head of Disease Surveillance of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Badu Sakordie said the Service is closely monitoring the situation

“We are yet to follow up on the issue. We need to get to the people on the ground to follow up on the issue…we will carry out an investigation and come out with the results,” he said.
In related development, the management of the hospital has given the assurance that plans are underway to control a spread of the disease in the country.

“… we are taking the requisite precautionary measures and it aimed at curbing any unforeseen contigencies,” said the administrator of the Achimota Hospital, Atindaana Nsobilla.
The management of the Achimota Hospital has also denied reports that health workers abandoned their duties following a reported case of suspected Ebola patient.
